SLIC Learning Platform shown on a laptop and mobileThe SLIC Learning Platform is available to library staff in all of Scotland’s 32 public library services. The online platform is funded by the Scottish Government and delivers a comprehensive range of digital training courses.

Modules available include Film Making, 3D Printing and Coding amongst others. Library staff can access all the courses from one online location and learn at their own pace – making Continuing Personal Development easier.

Library services can also share their own learning materials and examples of best practice on the site.

The online platform supports frontline library staff to deliver digital skills and development programmes within their communities and increases access to digital knowledge and creativity. SLIC’s Digital Champions helped to develop the platform through a pilot focus group with over 120 participants across 28 library services. A range of partner organisations include Into Film, Learn My Way and Microbit have also collaborated in course development.

It is expected the SLIC Learning Platform will become increasingly important as the range of devices, software applications and digital platforms expands, and more emphasis is placed on the use of technology within libraries.
