ROLE: Digital Training Officer
SALARY: £41,032 pro rata
POST: 0.2 FTE (8 hours per week) Fixed Term 18 Months
The Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) is the independent advisory body to the Scottish Government on library and information services. SLIC offers leadership focus and support to the Scottish library and information sector, coordinating and promoting national service developments to benefit Scotland's people and enrich our cultural, educational and economic landscape.
SLIC, with funding from the Scottish Government, has developed an online training portal to provide continuing professional development to all public library staff in Scotland. The Scottish Library and Information Council is now in a position to expand the provision to school librarians as well as further develop resources for public library staff.
The purpose of this role is to work with library services, the digital champions network and key stakeholders to further develop the offer available for public libraries and to scope the requirements of school librarians. The role will include mapping and planning content, supporting content development and a variety of admin tasks required to ensure up to 2,500 staff have access to the portal.
SLIC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join their team who is passionate about libraries and has an understanding of the role libraries have in supporting digital skills. They will ideally have experience of curating content for digital platforms or online resources and of training staff in using online training packages. They will have a keen interest in emerging technology and how application could benefit varied library users across Scotland. They will also have experience of consulting key stakeholders and focus groups to ensure programmes are developed to meet expectations of a number of parties.
