Martina McChrystal is Director of Library Services at the University of Glasgow, responsible for supporting learning and research through library services and collections which are global in reach. She has over 30 years’ experience in public, and more recently, in academic libraries. She is the current chair of the Scottish Confederation of University and Research Libraries (SCURL).

She is an external examiner for the School of Creative and Cultural Business at Robert Gordon University. Martina chaired the National School Library Strategy Advisory Group, leading to the publication of Scotland’s first national strategy for school libraries, Vibrant Libraries, Thriving Schools 2018-23, providing national guidance for service provision to deliver consistency across the country.

Prior to joining the University of Glasgow, Martina was Libraries and Information Services Manager at The City of Edinburgh Council, where she was responsible for the council’s award-winning public library service.
