In 2016 SLIC launched Scotland's first national strategy for public libraries - Ambition & Opportunity: A Strategy for Public Libraries in Scotland 2015-2020.
During this year SLIC also commissioned an independent evaluation on Evidence of the use of Volunteers in Volunteer Run Libraries. This was assist with the complex environment in which public libraries find themselves.
