In 2014 work began on the development of Scotland's first library strategy - Ambition & Opportunity: A Strategy for Public Libraries in Scotland 2015- 2020. The public library model 'How Good Is Our Public Library Service?' was also launched.
During this year SLIC also commissioned a study entitled 'The Impact of School Libraries on Learning' which was widely used to advocate for school libraries at a time of heightened pressure on services.
