A host of Scottish public library services are taking part in an ambitious new Libraries Streaming Project as part of the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
Over the course of the next few weeks library partners throughout Scotland are holding event screenings to help the Edinburgh International Book Festival reach more people – particularly those experiencing digital poverty.
Through the partnership library services can screen up to five live-streamed events during the Festival, as well as free access to a further 10 recorded Book Festival events to screen between October 1st 2025 and February 28th 2026.
Communities Programme
The pilot project forms part of the Communities Programme which is an integral part of the Book Festival. The Programme connect authors and artists with communities across Scotland who may not otherwise have access to cultural experiences.
The Edinburgh International Book Festival originally started live steaming events in 2021 in collaboration with The Birks Cinema in Aberfeldy. Two years later, the Festival started live-streaming events in Coatbridge Library to help reach even more communities.
