The SLIC Learning and Sharing Platform is an online portal offering a comprehensive range of digital training courses for library staff across Scotland. It is available to staff in all 32 public library services as well as those working in Scotland’s School Libraries, and is funded by the Scottish Government.
The platform helps frontline staff build confidence and capability in digital skills, enabling them to expand access to digital knowledge and creativity within their communities. By strengthening their own skills, library teams are better equipped to design and deliver digital development programmes that meet local needs.
Both School Libraries and public library services can also upload and share their own learning materials, resources, and examples of best practice, helping to build a collaborative national hub for professional development.

Online Learning
The platform makes Continuing Personal Development as easy as possible. Library staff can access courses from one online location and learn at their own pace.
Users can choose from a wide selection of courses and also have access to 15 PDFs which can be downloaded from the site.
SLIC’s Digital Champions helped to develop the platform through a pilot focus group with over 120 participants across 28 library services. SLIC Learning Platform partner organisations include Into Film, Learn My Way and Microbit.
