The Scottish Library and Information Council has joined IFLA – the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions.
The organisation advances the interests of library and information associations, libraries and information services, librarians and the communities they serve throughout the world.
SLIC joins the Federation’s Europe Regional Division and will be part of the global voice helping set the libraries and information services professional agenda. The IFLA Member Badge has also been added to the SLIC website.
Alison Nolan, CEO of SLIC said: “We are pleased to become members of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. The Federation not only promotes high standards of delivery of library and information services and professional practice but encourages the widespread understanding of the value and importance of high quality library and information services.
