The Library Young Team – Libraries LYT Up Lives! Toolkit is a comprehensive guide for librarians, teachers and learning professionals interested in helping reluctant readers. It is aimed at teenage boys and focuses on the contemporary issues they face.

The toolkit is the result of a collaborative project between OneRen and Glasgow Life which received funding through the School Library Improvement Fund in 2023. The project highlighted the social and mental benefits of reading particularly amongst senior boys.

In total, 12 schools across Renfrewshire and Glasgow took part in the project which included author visits as well as Continuing Professional Development sessions for librarians and teachers.

Projects could run across secondary school libraries in various different areas, with each school receiving author sessions aimed at S3-S5 boys. Sessions would concentrate on the social and mental benefits of reading as well as the contemporary issues many boys face.
