Football Star Drops into Local Library

Scotland footballer Billy Gilmour visited Ardrossan Library in North Ayrshire this month to take part in a story session for local children.

The defensive midfielder read Shark in the Park to youngsters which included a group from Sense Scotland. Staff at Ardrossan Library were delighted to welcome back Billy who was a regular visitor as a child. He attended the event with his mum Carrie, another library regular.

Billy – who plays for Serie A club Napoli – signed autographs and shirts, and gave hugs to the kids who were delighted to come face-to-face with their hero.

Ardrossan Library on Princes Street is part of the North Ayrshire Library Service which manages 15 public libraries throughout the area. Services include book borrowing, WiFi and internet access, computer access, health and wellbeing support and digital borrowing.

The footballer is back in his hometown as he recovers from the knee injury that forced him to withdraw from the Scotland World Cup squad before the tournament kicked off.
