A Collective Force for Health & Wellbeing was the first collaborative strategic action plan of its kind. It set out a national commitment for libraries, health and social care, and the third sector to help transform Scotland's approach to health and wellbeing.

Strategic Partnership

The Action Plan celebrates and shares the good practice and innovation taking place in many parts of Scotland, scaling it up to national level. It was supported by strategic partnerships involving the Scottish Library and Information Council, National policy leadership for health literacy and self-management and the ALLIANCE.

Examples of good practice include support of long-term conditions, self-management and health literacy, reading and writing for mental health and other therapeutic purposes and managing the wider determinants of health.

In 2021 national partners came together to update this original plan. The resulting Collective Force for Health & Wellbeing Action Plan Refresh lays foundations for a cross-sectoral national network that will enable more resilient, healthier communities to emerge following the COVID pandemic. You can read more about the refresh, and download the document, by visiting our Collective Force for Health & Wellbeing 2021 page.
