Product Description

SLIC is seeking Invitations To Tender (ITT) to evaluate the implementation of the key recommendations from Vibrant Libraries, Thriving Schools – the National Strategy for School Libraries in Scotland 2018 – 2023.

The strategy sets out five strategic aims and 19 recommendations, clearly linked to the Scottish Government’s National Performance Framework and the Curriculum for Excellence.

The research will include all 32 school library services in Scotland and reflect the broad educational landscape which services cover. It will assess the impact of the key recommendations on service development and staff.

The impact of partnership working, national policy development and central government support for school libraries will also be considered. Similarly, a focus on how school libraries responded to the COVID-19 pandemic will be reflected in the findings.

Key recommendations include:

  • Curriculum, Learner Journey and developing the Young Workforce
  • Information, Digital Literacy and Digital Creativity
  • Literacy, Numeracy and Family Learning
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Leadership, Standards and Working Models
