
Richard is the Director of the Library and Learning Centre at the University of Dundee. His career in information management began in the Life Sciences discipline as a scientist and lecturer, and subsequently involved operational management of eLearning at the University. Richard completed his first degree (MSc) in New Zealand and his PhD at the Australian National University in Canberra studying plant physiology. He has lived in the UK since 1989.
Richard is a member of the UK SCONUL Content Strategy Group and is the incoming chair of SCURL. Recently he has contributed as a Board Member for the National Library of Scotland and as a Director of JISC Collections. Richard is an advocate for open access and enhancing and innovating the educational experience of University students. When not working he enjoys sailing, cycling, renewable technologies and his family.
