Libraries Week 2019 kicks off today celebrating the role of libraries in the digital world. Between October 7th and 12th libraries throughout the UK will celebrate and explore how they are engaging communities through technology.
The annual event showcases the best that UK libraries of all kinds have to offer. This year Libraries Week focuses on areas such as building digital skills and confidence, encouraging digital participation and inclusion, supporting health, wellbeing and education and supporting local business and enterprise.
Library staff and supporters can register to take part and gain tips on how to organise their own Libraries Week event. Marketing and PR toolkits are also available to you help plan events and successfully promote your library throughout the week.
To get involved all you need to do is share news and photos relevant to the daily theme from the library you work in or use. Covering areas such as digital resources and digital then and now, it’s a fun way to highlight the central part libraries play in providing digital technology access to the public.
Libraries Week is all about encouraging your community to visit your library and find out about everything it has to offer – to get creative, get connected and learn new skills.
