Every November SLIC holds a Showcase event, illustrating some of the amazing projects that have been taking place in a variety of different libraries across Scotland.

In a fully packed programme, some of the highlights this year include; Youngwummin – a collaborative project between the National Library of Scotland and YouthLink; presentations from School Librarians who have been successful in securing funding from the School Library Improvement Fund, and the Innovation and Development funded Big Read project at the University of the West of Scotland, involving partnerships with the Scottish Book Trust, West College and East Renfrewshire and Renfrewshire Libraries.
Neil Mathers, CEO of the Children’s University Scotland

In celebrating the 2018 Year of Young People, we are delighted that our keynote speaker will be Neil Mathers, CEO of the Children's University Scotland. Neil leads the charity’s work to raise aspirations, boost achievement and tackle disadvantage to ensure that every child has the best chance of reaching their full potential. Neil is no stranger to libraries, having worked on the Read On Get On campaign, in his previous role as Head of Save the Children in Scotland.

All organisations in current membership of SLIC are invited to send up to two representatives to the Showcase, which is free and a very worthwhile event to attend!

If you would like to hear more about these projects and network with your fellow Library and Information staff on the 9th November in Perth, then please book a place via the Eventbrite link here.
