Entrepreneurs, freelancers and business start-ups in Dunfermline can now access professional workspace in their local library.

For the last year the Scottish Coworking Network Dunfermline Hub has been operating out of the award-winning Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries – offering everything the self-starter needs.

Hub members enjoy flexible desk space in a modern, professional environment with access to a breakout area and meeting facilities, as well as the chance to book meeting rooms within the library itself.

And for local members like Margaret Johnson, it’s proving to be the ideal base to work in a contemporary and flexible way.

Margaret explained: “Every week at the Hub is different. I have a Hot Desk which is ideal because I can pop in when I need to. For instance, I was in every day just before Christmas to get all my deadlines done and then took some time off.

“It’s such a nice place to work and, being in the Heritage Quarter, the location just couldn’t be better. I enjoy working here more than I do at home! Being at home can be busy whereas here I know I can get things done."

Flexible & Affordable Desk Space

SCN Dunfermline Hub Open Day PosterMargaret, who works part-time for Christian organisation Landings UK, has been a member of the Dunfermline Hub since Spring 2019. Being self-employed, the Hub gives her the flexibility she needs at an affordable price – with a Hot Desk starting at £35 per month plus VAT and a Fixed Desk at £50 per month plus VAT. As membership is on a monthly rolling basis, it’s also perfect for fledgling businesses and entrepreneurs.

Margaret said: “It’s a beautiful building and the ambience of working in a library is really quite serene. I doubt you would get that feeling elsewhere. The staff at Dunfermline are great too and so very helpful – more so than I ever expected.

“I use the meeting room for telephone calls and when I don’t want to disturb the other Hub members. It’s a great space and very professional.”

The SCN Dunfermline Hub is one of five coworking Hubs located in public libraries throughout the country – the first network of its kind in Scotland. Dunfermline members can enjoy unlimited access to the Hub during library hours and visit the SCN Hubs in Edinburgh, Inverness, Dundee and Troon for free.

Interested? Then why not pop along to the Dunfermline Hub Open Day on Thursday February 20th between 11am and 2pm to find out what the Hub can offer. On the day you can tour the facilities and chat to local business organisations. If you sign up on the day you can enjoy the second month of membership for free.
