SLIC is now accepting bursary applications to attend this year’s CILIPS 2022 Annual Conference. The two-day event, which this year focuses on the theme Scotland’s Libraries-Homes of Scotland’s Stories, takes place on the 6th and 7th June at the Apex Hotel in Dundee.

The largest conference in Scotland for library and information professionals, CILIPS22 will bring together colleagues from across the country to share knowledge and engage in professional development.
SLIC has a number of bursaries available to attend the Conference.

Hosted by CILIPS President and National Librarian Amina Shah the conference includes speakers such as

Damian Barr
Damian is an award-winning and bestselling writer, broadcaster and journalist. In 2019, Damian brought books back to television with The Big Scottish Book Club on BBC Scotland.

Gemma Cairney
Gemma is a multi-award-winning broadcaster, author, activist, and life enthusiast. She is the host of Landmark, Sky Arts’ new 8-part series, uncovering the purpose and power of public art, which aired on Sky Showcase in 2021.

Catherine Salmond
Catherine is Editor of Scotland on Sunday. Her paper is a passionate supporter of libraries, having launched the Support our Libraries campaign last August to champion their work and fight to secure their futures.

Zandra Yeaman
Zandra is the Curator of Discomfort based at the Hunterian Museum. Curating Discomfort is looking at ways outside of traditional museum authority to explore the interpretation of contested collections and to design and deliver a series of museum interventions that takes the museum out of the institutional comfort zone.

The SLIC bursary includes the full conference delegate package as well as the Conference Dinner and overnight accommodation. Please note, it does not cover travel to and from the conference venue.

To apply for a bursary to attend the CILIPS 2022 Annual Conference, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Work for a public library service in Scotland
  • OR work for a school library service in Scotland
  • Be a current member of CILIP – you must include your membership number in your application
  • Submit a résumé of no more than 500 words outlining why you would like to attend the conference and what learning you anticipate taking back to your workplace
