Further Education, Higher Education and Specialist Libraries who want to apply to SLIC's Innovation and Development Fund need to apply before the February deadline.

The Fund supports SLIC members with their innovative library projects and is open to members who do not benefit from the Public Library Improvement Fund or the School Library Improvement Fund

A total of £30,000 of funding is available to library projects which support the SLIC's strategic aims of advocacy, standards, innovation, partnership, funding and research.

Innovation & Creativity

The Innovation and Development Fund is ideal for projects and activities which centre on creative service delivery and development, including the creation of new resources, research and staff training.

Previous awards have included the creation of new library collections and training resources as well as health and wellbeing projects.

Pamela Tulloch, Chief Executive of SLIC, said: “Libraries and information centres have an important role to play in not only supporting skills development but also promoting social inclusion and tackling inequality. As well-used social and cultural spaces, they are increasingly contributing to the health and wellbeing agenda – but more can be done to enhance and expand these services.

“We’re committed to supporting creativity and innovation, and encouraging our members to make the most of their spaces. The Innovation and Development Fund is designed to support libraries in exploring these new ideas and improved routes of delivery, ensuring they are constantly adapting to the needs of their users while pushing the boundaries to provide a fresh and ambitious future for the sector.”
