Time: 10:00 - 16:00
The Engine Shed
Event is free
As part of SLIC’s Wikimedian in Residence project, this training session will introduce you to Wikipedia for Public Libraries, including hands-on training in how to edit Wikipedia. The project is aimed at those library services who are not yet engaged with the Wikimedian in Residence project, but who would be interested in hearing more, and getting their service involved.
The residency aims to establish public libraries as quality content creators in the digital sphere, and to provide open access to freely usable content about Scottish culture, derived from our rich library collections. The residency aims to establish a culture of quality digital content creation in public libraries by supporting library staff and users to engage in Wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Please note that participants should bring their own laptop, and create a Wikipedia account in advance of the event. Details on how to do this will be sent to you after booking.
More information about the Residency can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GLAM/SLIC
