Our first Editathon with our Wikimedian in Residence will take place on Friday October 6th at Edinburgh Central Library.
This is your chance to learn more about Wikipedia and how useful it can be within the library sector. Our Wikimedian in Residence Sara Thomas will be training attendees in all aspects of writing for Wikipedia and on hand throughout the day to offer support.
The Editathon will focus on Scotland’s favourite ‘Hidden Gems’, chosen as part of a public competition for Dig It! 2017 – a year-long celebration of Scottish archaeology.
- Govan Stones
- Ardrossan Castle
- James Watt's Cottage
- Lincluden Collegiate Church
- The Howff, Dundee
- Campbeltown Picture House
Coverage of these sites on Wikipedia, and other Wikimedia projects, is not as extensive as it should be and does not reflect the sum of knowledge held in the various local history collections of Scotland.
Through the Editathon, library students and professionals will seek to redress this imbalance and hone their wiki writing skills at the same time.
