In 2014, we published a new public library improvement model for Scotland, ‘How Good is Our Public Library Service?’ (HGIOPLS) This is an updated and revised version of the Public Library Quality Improvement Matrix (PLQIM) published in 2007. The new framework takes into account the changing environment of the public library sector and the changing needs and wants of service users. Using the self-evaluation tools in HGIOPLS will enable public libraries to demonstrate the quality of their services and the impact they make in their communities.
