Read Write Count logoRead Write Count is a Scottish Government campaign which aims to improve the literacy and numeracy skills of Scotland's children, encouraging the use of reading, writing and counting in everyday activities. It is part of the Scottish Government's Parent Club Initiative which aims to give parents hints and tips as well as expert advice. Read Write Count is delivered in partnership with the Scottish Library and Information Council, the Scottish Book Trust and Education Scotland.

It relates directly to the first strategic aim of Ambition & Opportunity – the strategy for Scotland’s public libraries – which promotes the use of libraries as a base for reading, literacy and learning.

Every public library service in Scotland has received Read, Write, Count promotional material to help children develop their reading, writing or counting.
